Want free money? How about the co-contribution?

Depending on what you earn, you could be eligible for some free money from the Australian Government.  All you have to do to qualify, is deposit some of your own after tax dollars into your superannuation account.
Of course this is the government so there are a whole bunch of rules affecting how much, if any you will get.  If you earn under $34,488 they will give you 50c for every dollar you contribute up to a maximum of $500.  This then reduces until it cuts out completely at $49,488.  There is also a work test and an age test that need to be complied with.

Although complicated it is tax-free money into your superannuation so if you happen to comply it has got to be worth the effort.  The numbers above relate to the 2014-2015 year and may change in the future.
